Kevin Coster's Doing Turkish Airlines Ads, Career Officially Over

I'm sure the folks at Turkish Airlines are fantastic people. And I loved Kevin Costner in Bull Durham. And Tin Cup. But let's just say that if Costner were to find himself doing an advertisement for said Turkish Airlines where someone keeps whispering "I feel like a sta-ah" in a gravely voice as Costner travels across the globe, well, both parties have hit a new low. Fortunately, that's exactly what happened! VROOM-VROOM, PARTY STATER!

Alternately, this could simply be Costner doing charity work to make up for producing Waterworld and The Postman, although surely donations to help the children of a third world country would be more productive.

Creative, tasteful and well executed ad.

New headline:
travelinglight.professionaltravelguide loses all credibility.

Ha look how funny that sentence is!

This blogger doesn't have a clue. Actors are actors. They play roles. That's their profession, their job, their passion. He was approached, and probably loved the ad script. He got paid to do it. Certainly as popular as he is, he probably donates to charity regularly. If you're a "traveler" perhaps you've seen in other countries that megastars are always appearing in commercials. American actors definitely love appearing overseas. In Japan, you will see the most popular actors, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and more appearing in credit card, cell phone, cosmetic, clothing commercials. The United States is nearly alone in it's "stigma" on film actors doing commercial work as a sign of failure. Other countries dont' subscribe to the "oh I've seen him alot recently" zero sum viewpoints on acting. It's the more the merrier.

Also regardless that was a nice commercial. I loved how he posed for that family's photo shot just for laughs. Great idea. Sweet ad and maybe the best airline ad of late. Heck I'd fly them. Their cool bookmark is just as nice as a Midwest Airlines cookie.

Is this a travel industry blog or a backstage gossip?
Kevin Costner is a star whether appearing in a movie or a commercial. Participating in a successful advertisement like that does not mean that the professional career of Costner is going down. Kudos for Turkish Airlines for a choice well made and a job well done!

Turkish Airlines is achieving a good performance during the first five months of 2009. I checked their monthly traffic data. The figures reflect a positive growth. Is it a coincidence that the Costner commercial is about 4 months old?

I have just discovered that there is a spelling mistake in the title of the article. It is written (Coster) instead of Costner.
This is one more supporting reason for the thumb down for the above article.
